Description:

The Novouzensk Local Lore Museum was founded in 1967 as a voluntary museum. Since 1978 it has been operating as a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local Lore. In the course of time, ample collections have been accumulated. Some of the exhibits may be regarded as exceptionally rare ones: reports of the municipal council from 1865 till 1912, "Herald of Novouzensk County" from1912 till 1916; personal things of P.E. Churikov - a musician, soloist of Imperial theatres; photos of N.K. Svobodin (Pechkin) - a prominent actor; a map of Novouzensk compiled in 1865; maps and notes made by F.F. Bay-Balayev - a local historian; household things of ХIХ - ХХ centuries, weapons of the Civil War and Great Patriotic War periods, etc. A subject collection gives an account of the virgin lands reclamation during the early post-war years
