State budgetary institution of the Amur region "The Amur regional local museum of G.S. Novikov-Daursky". The museum was founded on August 16 (28), 1891. First exhibits were the items of the exhibition arranged by gold miners of the Amur region in honor of Nikolai II. The museum is located in one of the most beautiful buildings, which was built at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th centuries by "Kunst and Albers" Trade Company. At present time the museum is a monument of federal significance. In 1993 the museum was named in honor of a famous local scientist G.S. Novikov-Daursky. He worked in the museum for 34 years (1927 - 1961).
Now the fund of the museum has more than 155 000 items on nature of the Amur region, its history and culture. Some of the items are unique: Japanese samurai armour of the 17-th ct., dresses and cultural pieces of evenc and daur shamans of the end of the 19-th - beginning of the 20-th centuries, the "Ust-Nykzha" meteorite, and the East countries art items.
Cultural and educational programs of the museum are suitable for different kinds of visitors. The program is meant for family audience. The program "Weekend in museum" is meant for family audience. It includes the art studio "New Names", masterclasses on decorative and applied art and art meetings. The local lore and ethnographic programs help to learn about life and culture of native people living in the Amur Region.
For our young visitors there is Children's museum centre, where interactive excursions, masterclasses, ethnographic and ecological excursions take place.
In 2010 the Albazinsky local museum (Albazino v., Scovorodinsky district) became the branch of the Amur regional local museum
