Description:

The museum was founded in 1932. Its unique collection comprises archaeological exhibits of the Bronze Age, early Slavic objects, some items relevant to the Golden Horde times, traditional Mordovian women ornaments, objects of ethnography and daily life, a vast collections of samovars and of gramophone records, documents and paraphernalia of our famous fellow-countrymen: Yu.A. Garnaev - a pilot, N.E. Pal'kin - a well-known poet, N. Tremasov and A. Vlasov - physicists, E. Belyankin - an author, P Lebedev - a collector of the war-time folklore, etc.
