Description:

The Architectural and Ethnological Museum of the Vologda Region was opened in 1992 and is situated in 12 km away from Vologda. The museum occupies 12 hectors. Nowadays there are 20 houses-exhibits on its territory: buildings, barns, a bath and a chapel. All the houses were brought to the museum from different Vologda villages and than restored. The oldest house belonged to the Kochkins and was built in 1870-s. Museum visitors can observe various expositions: "The main peasants' activities", "Flax processing", "Hunting", "Carpentry and Joinery". One of the most attractive objects - "Museum of Butter" and "Museum of Valenki ". All over the year ethnological holidays, festivals and theatrical performances are held on the territory of the museum
