The museum "The Young Defenders of the Motherland" is the only museum in Russia where the material about teenagers, who rose in arms against fascism equally with adults defending their Motherland during the Great Patriotic War, is gathered. Here everything corresponds to the moral patriotic mood of visitors coming to us with the desire to pay a debt of memory to young war participants.
The museum began its chronology in February 1977, when it has opened its doors for visitors' viewing.
The organizer and administrator of the museum was a war veteran C.A. Ryabova. In the early 60s the work in search of young war veterans began on her initiative and more than 10,000 names of young defenders of the Motherland were established.
Since February 1991 the Public Museum of the Young Defenders of the Motherland has been given state status and currently it is a branch of the Museum of Local History
