Zheleznogorsk museum of local lore was founded according to the Decision of Head of administration of Zheleznogorsk dated 7/21/1992.

    Mikhailovskiy iron ore career's diorama, located in a section of history of the city Zheleznogorsk, is occupied the special place in an exposition of the museum. The collection of minerals and paleontological finds, which includes fossilized remains vegetative and fauna, is unique: helemnites, grypheas, ammonites (age of 170 million years), teeth and fragments of bones of the mammoth.

    Exposition of а section of the nature represents nature I ami ecological features of region. Materials about fellow countrymen, who look part in the (ireut Patriotic war, are presented in a section of Military Glory and Memory, memory about citizens of Zheleznogorsk, fell a victim carrying out a soldier's duty, /s also immortalized here. Exhibits of a history and ethnographic section tell about main facts of history Zheleznogorsk (Mikhailovka) region, about destiny of the well-known fellow countrymen, about local occupations and crafts.

    The peculiarity of the museum is the presence of a spacious showroom that allows to organize exhibitions, both from own funds, and from funds of other museums and private collections
