The Novgorod Integrated Museum Complex has in its possession one of the most rich and varied collections of material associated Novgorod the Great dating from the Middle ages.

    The collection is included on the list of the most valuable monuments of The Russian Federation Cultural Heritage and on the list of World Cultural Heritage. This complex of various collections is unique not only as one of the oldest in the country but also as one of the most valuable from a historical and artistic point of view.

    The collections of artefacts, icons, decorative-applied art, historical and legislative documents and seals, books, architectural monuments and mural paintings help us to trace the non stop process of historical and cultural development in Novgorod the Great over a period of a thousand years. The Novgorod integrated museum-complex is the only one of its kind that still exists in Russia. It incorporates seven branch museums that are located in Novgorod, Valdiy, Chudovo, Staraya Russa and Borovitchy.

    The museum attracts visitors by the constant renewal of its expositions it has 32 permanent expositions, 14 of them have been totally rebuilt the others like "Recreated frescoes", "St Anthony monastery, and its history", "The Church of the Nativily of Out Lord at the cemetery as the monument of architecture and mural painting of the 14th century","Ancient Russian ornamental and religious embroideries of the 12-17th centuries in the collection of the Novgorod museum, "Every day life and festivales of the novgorodian country side" at "Vitislavlitsy", "Historical museum" in Valdiy are newly bult in spite of a fact that the last six years were not the sood ones in Russia.

    Every year the museum presents about 50 temporary exhibitions of its own collections, the loan collection from the other museums and private collections. Very advantageous locations on the road Moscow - St Petersburg, world, renowned cultural heritage make the Novgorod museum a leading tourist organization and very important centre of scientific and reserch activity.
