Museum was founded in 1927 on the local science society initiative. Funds include information on the history of Kovrov; collections of coins, clothes and textiles, blacksmith's and potter's goods; leadges and medals for soviet sports competitions (more than 4000 units). "Kovrov land since ancient times till the 9th century exposition includes relic plants and animals which appeared millions of years ago on the Earth, paleontological finds. "Uyesh Kovrov since the 19th till the beginning of the 20th century lets you walk along Kovrov with its abundance of churches, strong merchant houses, shops and catchy signs. The patriotie theme is revealed by "Forever in people's memory" exposition. It's chronological range covers the time since the anxious 1812 till 1980. The collection of steel is exhibited by the Museum for the first time. It also shows the examples of automatic small arms produced by our plants during the Great Patriotic War.
