Moscow City Museum was founded in 1896 ,is one of the city's oldest cultural institutions with the unique collection of the archeological remains, plans, engravings, paintings, photography, graphic art, costumes, postcards, objects from everyday life, and much else. The Museum has now its 6 branches:
The Old English Court is a unique monument of civil architecture of the XV-XVI centuries. There was the residence of English "Moscow Company" at the Ivan the IV times. Exposition: "From the history of Russian - English relations".
The Moscow Archeology Museum is built in the process of the Manezhnaya square reconstruction, and placed in the depth of 7m. Piers of the Voskresensky bridge of the XVI-XVII cent. - take up the center of the exposition. The Museum's collection of treasures from excavations in the historical center and other districts of Moscow are presented here.
The Lefortovo Museum. The exposition of the major events in the history of the district Lefortovo that was the cradle of Peter I the Great reforms.
The Russian country-estate Kuzminki museum. This exposition for the first time illustrates the history of a country-estate of the Russian nobility from the XV-XX centuries.
The Mirek Russian Accordion Museum is devoted to the history of reed instruments, such as harmonica, their rise in the XVIII-XX centuries. The exposition based on the unique collection of musical instruments that were collected by the Professor Alfred Mirek during five decades. Mirek donated his collection to Moscow.
In the future the Moscow City museum will have a new big exposition in the historical building "Provision Warehouses " in the center of Moscow after reconstruction
