The International Centre of the Roerichs and the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich were established by the initiative of Svetoslav Roerich, the younger son of Nicholas and Helena Roerichs. In 1989 Svetoslav Roerich donated from India to Russia an invaluable heritage of his parents on behalf of the Soviet Roerich Fund (The International Centre of the Roerichs). The exposition of the Museum contains collections of scenic pictures by Nicholas and Sletoslav Roerichs, photos, different documents and manuscripts from the family archive, treasures, books and personal belongings which preserve the memory of their great owners. Among the exhibits one can find unique "thangkas" (Buddhist icons on fabric), rare collections of bronze and books. The Banner of Peace Hall presents exhibits connected with the first international treaty on Protection of Artistic and Scientific Institutions and Historic Monuments - the Roerich Pact.

The ideas of the "Living Ethics" are the basis of the Roerich family oeuvre. It is a philosophy of the cosmic reality, which develops the idea of close relationship between the mankind and the cosmos
