The Tigilsky district Museum of local lore was founded in1995, the 30d of may, opened for visit in 1998. The first museum's exhibits were going to on scintilla. At present the museum's fund of the Tigilsky district has furcated structure, where are presented with all directions of the cultural heritage: ethnographic, graphic arts of the 20th of century, regional, natural-science, decorative - applied art of the 18th - early 20th centuries.

    In the Tigilsky district Museum of local lore there are 6 constant expositions: "The animal world of the Tigilsky district", "The way of life and the material culture of the reindeer êoryaks", "The way of life of the kamchadals, petty bourgeois in early 20th of century ", "Graphic arts", "It was one hundred years ago", "We remember you" (is dedicated to people of Tigil - the participants of The Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945).

    All visitors of the museum àre interested in f the material culture of the indigenous inhabitants, living in the Tigilsky district and Kamchatka as a whole. The permanent exhibitions are created in this direction. In recent years especially the visitors are interested in the genealogy of the autochthons and the natives of Tigil. The letters come for consultations, with requests from all regions of Russia, they are interested in their ancestors, about the mode of life of the recent past. The Museum carries out huge work under the name of "Tigilsky surnames". In the Museum there is a club of "Countrymen" old-timers of Tigil, which contributes to the study of the history of Tigil's names.
