Museum "Gorod" - one of the youngest cultural establishments of city of Barnaul who has opened the doors for visitors on September, 1st, 2007.

    In a basis of the concept of a museum- to show history of city through destiny of the people who have brought the contribution to its development They are the most different people - from the Ural industrialist Akinfiya Demidov who has based city, up to our contemporaries. They are mountain officers and scientists, merchants and militarians, builders and teachers without whom it is impossible to present history of city of Barnaul.

    For today the museum has 2 halls for exhibiting: the first - with a constant exposition "History of Barnaul in persons 18-21 centuries", and the second - for time exhibition projects.

    In an exposition of a museum the basic stages of development of Barnaul are reflected, beginning from factory settlement to trading, merchant city and, at last, to the large industrial center. One of the most interesting parts of an exposition is reconstruction of a room in a city apartment 50-60-х years of XX century. All subjects of an interior are transferred to a museum by families of city dwellers of Barnaul.

    Scientific employees of a museum spend sightseeing tours on history of city in a stationary hall, and also thematic lectures for visitors of different age, for example, "Temple architecture of Barnaul from the end of 18 to the beginnings of 20 centuries", "History of charity in Barnaul from the end of 19 to the beginnings of 20 centuries", "Development of formation in Barnaul from the 18 to the 20 centuries" and a number of others.

    Work of a museum is not limited to its walls. Employees of a museum spend a sightseeing tour on city; also spend thematic excursions under the name "Streets of Barnaul", "the Areas of Barnaul".

    The museum accepts active participation, as in city, and the international actions. Bright event becomes celebrating Birthday of city of Barnaul which traditionally passes in the end of August of each year. To one of bright events in a life not only a museum, but also city became carrying out of a holiday of the World day of museums under the name Museum night
