The Museum was opened in 2002 under the auspices of Chief Magistrate and at wills of townsmen. The unique character of the Museum lies in the fact that all of rather various exhibits were given by inhabitants of the town which population is about 20000. The city is situated on the right bank of Oka River and unites with neighboring Priosko-Terrasniy reserve into one ecopolice. The local economic mainstay is Pushchino Research Centre of RAS which consists of 10 academic institutes. The employees of these institutes are engaged in both pure and applied science. Scientists are very careful to both modern history of the town and the history of ancient settlement on the same place. The Museum takes care of history preservation mainly by traditional means - diverse exhibitions, lections, workshops, memorial evenings. One of constituents of the Museum activity is its ecological trend. Ecological lessons in the form of cognitive games both for children and adults are an integral part of the activity of the Museum.
