The museum originated from the school museum in Makhkety, that was started from the chain, found by the schoolboy Magomedkhadjiev. This find had been placed in the staffroom of the scool and then students added some herbariums and minerals collected, with their teacher Mayevskaya. In 1962 the teachers' council came to a decision to create a school Museum of Regional Studies headed by a teacher of history Shakhidov A Sh. Among the museum expositin are archaelogical collections extracted by the expeditions in Vedeno, historical articles, documents of life and activity of remarcable people of Vedeno and Makhkety. In 1986 the museum get a status of National and since 1989 it has been the brunch of Chechen State Museum of Regional Studies (now it's The National Museum of Chechen Republic).
