November, 19th, 1999, by the order of Yugorsk-town's mayor R.I.Bzenko the municipal organization "The Town Museum" was formed.
January, 12th, 2001, the Museum received its first visitors in the stationary exposition "Yugorsk. From the Legend to the Point on the Map". The great archeological and ethnographic collections of the Museum found a worthy place in this exposition.
In 2002, there was formed the open-air Museum "Suevat Paul" near the town. The exposition is located on the beautiful river Ess' bank. This exposition represents the reconstructed complex of the traditional mansy people's village, which includes a house with outbuildings.
In 2005, these two organizations - "The Town Museum" and "The open-air Museum "Suevat Paul" were united into the municipal organization "The Museum of History and Ethnography". The Museum of History and Ethnography is directed by O.V.Malozyomova since its foundation.
The new stationary exposition - "The Line of Destiny - The Cross-point" was opened to the 45th - anniversary of Yugorsk.
The Museum-staff give the illustrated lectures, based on the Museum-funds-collections; master-classes for making of folk toys; organize quizzes, contests, game programs. Mass celebrations, organized by the Museum-workers, such as "Craft's Fair "Town of masters", "International Day of Museums", "The Summer Peak in Yugorsk" and the traditional spring festival of Ugric nations "Crow's Day", known and loved in Yugorsk. All of these activities year by year collect unchanging large number of participants
