The Museum was founded in 2002 on the basis of a private collection (owner - Vladimir Shishenin,b.1951) and with support of the local city Administration. Mission of the Museum is to demonstrate Russian classical kerchiefs and shawls in their historical development through centuries as integral parts of traditional national costume. By far, the Museum possesses 320 excellent items of crafts and industrial output dated 18th-20th centuries representing whole variety of Russian traditional female headwear.
Museum is located in a historical building in the center of the town of Pavlovski Posad (60 kM East from Moscow; good railroad and paved road approach) - a famous Russian center of kerchief, shawl and textile crafts and industry since late 18th century. Excursions in English could be provided. Shopping in local kerchiefs and shawls shop. City excursions including visiting various memorial places of Russian history since IX-XI centuries are provided
