The foundation of a pedagogical museum in Omsk falls into the end of XIX century. "The School museum" was opened on the 20th of July of 1897 by the Regional teacher's society in the building of a teacher's seminary. From 1916 to 1937 the chief of a museum was Georgii F. Furaev, acquainted with the experience of pedagogical museums of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Since 1920 the museum has been included in frame GubONO with a title "Scientific Pedagogical Museum". In 1938 it was converted to department of "Institute of improvement of professional skills of staff of national education" with preservation only parts of former functions.

    In the second half of the 1970th the idea of the revival of the museum found implementation in activity of old teacher's Club of the Pegional Teacher's House. The Club managed to find and to return the part of collections of former museum. The state museum of history of national education was registered in 1998. Mission of the museum - analys of a history of education in Omsk region. The basis of fonds was compounded by collections of Club of the veterans and museum of history of a Omsk Teacher's Training University
