Volokonovsky Museum of local history was opened in 2009 in the district library. August 25, 2016 the Museum with a renewed exposition moved to a beautiful two-story building which is a historical monument of regional significance. It was built in 1914 as a school and was known as the Highest real four-year school. During the World War II it housed the military hospital No. 2084. Original tiles and wrought-iron stair railing of the last century are still preserved in the Museum.

    The Museum features 9 halls: 8 halls of constant exposition and exhibition hall. The exhibits of the Museum acquaint visitors with the region's diversity of flora, fauna andminerals, tell about the history and cultural characteristics of Volokonovsky district, about important events and people that our contemporaries are justifiably proud of. Among the exhibits are the archaeological monuments of the Saltovo-Mayatska culture, materials about the history of the regionsettlement, the participation of the residents in the World War II, objects of peasant life, paintings of Honored artist of Russia V.M. Luzanov
