The Museum was organized at the Electromechanical Department of Leningrad Politechnical Institute as Electromechanical Museum. Prof. M. Shatelen became its initiator. In 1976 on the base of this Museum the Museum of History and Technical of St.Petersburg state Technical University was organized. The Museum consists of several expositions, gallery of scientists, monuments and memorial pllagues. The funds of the Museum have nearly 45000 keeping units. Personal funds of scientists make a base of the collections. Many valuable exhibits are placed in the fund of apparatus, documentary and photo funds.
