Description:

The collection of our Museum is one of the most ancient in Russia (it was founded in 1785). These unique collections were formed by such outstanding scientists as I.Georgy, D.Sokolov, D.Mendeleev, V.Vernadsky, etc. The entire collection of the Museum consists of about 39000 spesimens representing examples of about 870 of the known mineral spesimens. The display area contains about 2000 spesimens. All othersare housed on the different collections, wich are available for study and research: systematic mineral collection; mineral association; Genesis of mineral; Meteorites; Gemstones; Artificial minerals; Mineralogy of Russia and of the former USSR.

There are some beautiful memorial collections.
