The Sovietskiy Region-Study Museum was founded in 1984 by the Vice-Chairman of Region Executive Committee Neverov A. P. and the Director of the Region Education Department Pimenov P. A. , who was appointed the head of the musewn.

The museum is considered to be a local historical monument.

The inhabitants of the region helped a lot in making of the museum in gathering of informative funds: Vukkert Ya. Ya., Dolgov A. E., Doropheeva E. S., Zakharova A. I., Zarnyatin A. L, Kashirin I. V., Kudryashov M. N., Mosman N. I., and others.

The museum has more than 10000 exponents, documents, photos. There is a lot of information about collective-farm and state-farm activities.
