Zavodoukovsky Museum of local lore was founded on November 18, 1988 by order No. 203 of the Executive Committee of the district Council of people's deputies. The main task of the new cultural institution was to unite the funds of public museums established in Zavodoukovskiy district in the 60s-70s of the twentieth century: the National Museum and the Museum of cosmonautics of zavodoukovskaya secondary school ¹ 1, the Museum of military and labor glory of zavodoukovskaya secondary school ¹ 2, the Museum of public education of zavodoukovskaya secondary school ¹ 4, the Museum of Zavodoukovsky experimental forestry. Now funds of a Museum make 12371 storage units., including 6421-main and 5950 - scientific-auxiliary Fund.

    The basis of the work of the Museum is the permanent exposition of the "life of the Siberian peasants late XIX - early XX century", which tells about the life of the population of Siberia, "My sweet and tender beast" - about the animal world of the region, "the Old apartment" - about the life of Zavodoukovsk in the 60-ies of XX century, when Moscow became a city and centre of the area, and the interactive exhibition "On the screen of the Millennium" - the paleontological and archaeological heritage of the region. The Museum also conducts walking and car tours of the city, the district's settlement, the archaeological monuments of the "Ingal valley". Excursions are held with elements of theatricalization on behalf of fairy-tale and mythological characters and historical figures
