Description:

Museum was founded in 1962 in settlement Lovozero of Murmansk region.

More than a thousand object are exhibited in the museum, among them is a stone with rock-carvings, 1-st thousand years BE, the expressive items of the Saami culture and the national clothes and the handicraft.

The exposition of the museum inform about main occupation of the saamis (hunting, fishing, reindeer breeding) determinated their nomadic way of life, variety of their dwellings and specific house hold.

The history of development of reindeer husbandry takes a considerable place at the exposition. The most interesting exhibits are: raindeer harness, nomadic dwelling, model of the reindeer breeding base, clothes of the raindeer herders.
