The Chagoda's Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1994. It is the youngest one in the Vologda region. The museum founder was famous teacher Vasilii Rogushkov. The objects are being exhibited in the Museum's seven rooms illustrating the local arts, history and science. At present the Chagoda Museum of Local Lore has accumulated a valuable collection basically is being made up by works of archeology and paintings. There is a considerable paintings collection of local artists of varios trends.

    Good result are achieved by archeological expeditions in the different parts of the Chagoda area. The collection of Archeology, Arts, Things of Glass, Photography are continiosly supplemented due to the interchance with other museums, also by the collecting activities of the staff, the donations are made by art collector and a purchases from privet persons. The scientific workers of the Museum have been studied the various themes such as "Hospital № 2715", "The Saint Ephrosin of the Blue Lake", "Glass workmanship" and others.

    The Museum of Local Lore is based on the Chagoda's Center of the history and culture. The reserve collection is being popularized constantly. It's exhibits widely displayed at varios exposition, reprodused in the numerous catalogues and guide-books, are used for scholar researches. The schoolchildren are studying the local history in the special groups and The history camp.

    The exhibition of the Glass is one of the traditional in the Museum. The Glass items is always interested to all people and guests of our town.
