Submarine S-56 was laid down at Baltic ship-yard in 1936 and was allotted to Pacific Navy in 1941. She participated in World War Two, gained 14 victories in polar seas, was decorated with an Order of the Red Banner and was honored with a Guard's Title. After War she was the only Guard/s submarine in Russia awarded eith an Order of the Red Banner. In 1975 she was placed in the Eternal Glory Memorial at the Naval Quay in Vladivostok, and opened as museum. She consists of 7 compartments, three of them comtain original submarine equipment while submarines, role of Pacific Navy submarines in World War Two, and to the heroic past of "S-56"
