The I.S. Turgenev State Memorial Museum and Scenery Preserve "Spasskoye-Lutovinovo" is a unique memorial of Russian culture, it is the only memorial of the great writer in Russia and one of the few preserved manor memorials.

    The main attraction is the House Museum with the collection of Turgenev's things, pieces of furniture and pictures; they belonged to the writer himself and his ancestors. This collection is remarkable for its completeness, artistic and historical value.

    The I.S. Turgenev Museum today is a historically formed complex of estate buildings. One of them is the church of Transfiguration, built in 1809 with the money of I.I. Lutovinov, Turgenev's grandfather. Other buildings are a family chapel, a church lodge, an almshouse, etc.

    The old Spasskiy park with its shady linden alleys and cascade ponds is one of the best samples of Russian landscape gardening art of the late 18th early 19th century. It is rightfully considered to be one of the most beautiful estate parks in Russia.

    About 102 thousand tourists visit the museum annually. The geographical position of the museum is favourable for the development of tourist activities.

    One of the main lines of museum work is exhibition projects. On exhibition can be objects not only from the museum funds but from other Russian museums as well, among them the largest museums of our country: the State A.S. Pushkin Museum of Art, the State Literary Museum, the State Historical Museum, the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin, IRLI Sciences Museum (Pushkin house)
