State Cultural Institution "Museum of Modern Art EAO" was opened in April 1989 as a branch of Far Eastern Art Museum, Khabarovsk. Since 1996 - an independent organization. Formation of the museum's collection began with its opening - from 1989. First exhibit was a picture of the Krasnoyarsk artist Oleg Firer "sign of the covenant," marked the beginning of the collection - "Old Testament through the eyes of contemporary artists" - the card of the museum and the first meeting of its kind in Russia. In the museum store pictures Far authors and artists EAO. In the museum held the first exhibition of computer graphics and of photography, which could be open to all residents of the Jewish Autonomous Region, regardless of age and the presence of arts education.
