Ivanovo Regional Art Museum was opened in 1960. The basis of the museum collection is a part of Ivanovo-Voznesensk manufacturer's collection by D.G.Burylin, who was the founder of the Industry and Arts Museum, and donative exhibits of 1920-30s from the state Tretiakov Gallery and The State Russian Museum. There are more than 45 thousand exhibit items in the museum collection. Huge entire collections can be marked: historic-cultural monuments of the Ancient world (Egypt, Greece, Rome); XVIII-XIX century art of Oriental countries (handicraft, ceremonial sculptures); the West-European art of XVI-XX century(painting, graphics, decorative-applied art); XVI-XIX century Russian religious art (icons, wall-painting, copper plastic arts); the Russian art of XVIII - beginning of XX century (painting, graphics, sculptures, decorative-applied art); the Russian Avant garde; the Russian lacquers; paintings and graphics of Ivanovo school painters.
