Since 1970, the mansion of Baron H.H. Stamps (St. Leo Tolstoy 51) is a branch of the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum - Art Gallery "Vladimir Lenin in the visual arts." The Museum of Modern Art - a branch of the SCI "Ulyanovsk Regional art museum" - was opened on March 1, 1992 (until 1996 called the gallery "Art of the Twentieth Century). This is the first permanent exposition of the complex art of the twentieth century since the founding of the museum. The permanent exhibition includes: the art of early twentieth-century Russian avant-garde, Soviet Art 1930-1980 years., an exposition of works by A.A. Plastov. Each year the museum holds at least 10 exhibitions. There are several directions in the work of the exhibition: the exhibition Ulyanovsk artists, conceptual exhibitions and exhibitions - the version of the Funds, exhibitions from other museums, cities and countries. Annual concerts, especially the popular "Summer Assembly at the Museum", "Plastovskie seasons".

    The building, which houses the museum - a monument of architecture of the early twentieth century. Built in 1905-1906. designed by renowned architect Simbirsk A.A. Chaudet for Baron H.H. Stamp and is a model of an aristocratic mansion. After 1918 it housed educational institutions (including schools). At this time the building hosted the 20-th century art department, showrooms, and repository
