The museum was established in 1975. The collection of items of ethnography of the Nanai people is rated as one of unique ones in Khabarovsk region. The woman's wedding gown of the end of the 19th century, woman's garments, made by craftswomen - members of the union of Artists of Russia - Ms. Anna Onenko, Tatyana Khodzher, clothing and footwear made of fish skin, the collection of pictorial pieces of Mr. Andrey Beldy and a graphic artist Ms. Elena Kile are the pride of the museum stock. The Udege shaman costume of the early 20th century, the extensive collection of rite wooden sculptures related to the era of shamanism are also unique. The collection of utensil and other items of family life of the Nanai people of the late 19th - early 20th centuries evokes great interest. The trade fair of souvenir crafts of present day craftsmen is organized in the museum
