Museum of is Pyatigorsk - one of the oldest museums SKFO (founded 1903), the collection (over one hundred and thirty thousand items) includes: unique archaeological materials and a natural history collection. It reveals the evolutionary aspects of life on Earth, including a rare skull of a Southern elephant. There is also a rare examples of weapons and firearms from XVII - XX centuries, a large collection of artwork, including the masters of Russian and foreign painting of XVIII - XIX centuries. The museum includes a Caucasiological library (about 17 thousand volumes), a collection of rare books, postcards, documents and photographs of the XIX - the beginning of the twenty-first century., subjects of ethnography multi-ethnic region - urban, peasant, Cossack, and the highland way of life of the nineteenth - early twentieth centuries.

    There are several exhibition halls featuring the stages of the history of the resort town of Pyatigorje and the entire North Caucasus region. The museum annually hosts 20 exhibitions which are funded from borrowed and internal funds. It carries out various scientific and educational projects
