The Literary-Memorial Museum of F.M.Dostoevsky was opened in 1971, for the 150-year anniversary since the birth of the author. In this house was his last apartment. The novel "Brothers Karamazov" was written here.

    The interiors of the rooms in the memorial apartment, have been recreated based on the recollections of Dostoevsky's contemporaries and archive materials. Here are presented authentic things that had belonged to the author's family; books, donated to the museum by the author's descendants. A large literary exhibition tells us of the life and work of Dostoevsky. Through the years of its existence, the museum has developed into a research and cultural center. Here are held annual, international readings -"Dostoevsky and world culture." In the exhibition halls exhibitions of works by contemporary artists are regularly opened; in the theater films, based on the works by Dostoevsky are demonstrated; literary and musical evenings are also held.
