Description:

The exposition of the museum reflects the formation history and development of Temir-Khan-Shura (now Buynaksk).

Museum contains material, which contributed to the historical and cultural process not only Buynaksk, but also the whole republic.

Since the beginning of the Caucasian war (19th century), till now the city had to do with the names of poets, writers, artists, military, politicians and musicians such as: Bestuzhev-Marlinskyi, Rasul Gamzatov, Alexandre Dumas (father), adjutant general Mischenko, Chavchavadze and many other. The museum collects historical, as well as ethnographic artifacts.

At the Extraordinary Congress of highlanders in museum building a "Declaration on the Autonomy of Dagestan" was proclaimed by Stalin on 13 November 1920
